Day Ten: Show and Tell
Today's prompt at KIOSB is show and tell. First let me just say that I always had mixed feelings about show and tell. On the one hand hey, you get to brag about something you really like. On the other hand, up in front of the whole class. Not so fun when you're kind of shy.
Well, this is what I'm working on. A finger crocheted afghan for my sister for Christmas. Finger crochet can be hard on your fingers, so I wear a latex glove on my dominant hand when I do it. This one is a bit different from the first one I made, as it's going to be a ribbed blanket.
My first actual attempt ended badly, as I messed up the ends where you have to flip your work. That, and I didn't have enough yarn. I even tried to get more, but the color batch was no longer sold. -_-;; Ah well. I'll just use that yarn for a hat or something.
I always had mixed feelings about show and tell, too. Your blankets are just lovely. I'm glad that you decided to share.
ReplyDelete'Finger crocheting.' What a concept. I have never heard of that before. Crocheting is one of the things I hope to learn in the new year. Your work is lovely, and I'm certain your sister will be thrilled to receive it.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors - and there is no more thoughtful gift than one that is handmade. Great work!
ReplyDeleteLove! and love the colors.
ReplyDeleteNow this is a labour of love...using your fingers to create something for those you love! Your sister will be delighted!
ReplyDeleteWow - I've never even heard of finger crocheting and here you are showing us some gorgeous examples. The very best kind of show and tell.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS for sharing Kristina! They look great!
ReplyDeleteOh I know that feeling of being uncomfortable in a crowd but I think you did great and it awesome knowing another crocheter. Have I ever been there with running out of yarn. Having them discontinue the colour sucks! Oh yes, my monster stares. He's a weirdo that way.
ReplyDeleteI really like the color of the afghan you're working on, and I'm so intrigued by the idea of finger crocheting. I've done just a little bit of crocheting with a crochet hook, so I think I'll have to try out finger crocheting some time!
ReplyDeleteThe love the vibrant blue of the blanket. A handmade gift is worth so much more in my eyes than one that is purchased.
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that you just gave away one of your Christmas presents for Carolyn right? o.O
ReplyDeleteAh well, if she does then she shouldn't be a lurker and reply. If she doesn't then it's not a problem.
DeleteI didn't know there was such a thing as finger crochet, but hey I just learned my new thing for the day. I think I'll leave the finger crochet to you and stick to my knitting ;-) Thanks for sharing your project!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of finger crocheting - how very cool!!! I used to crochet, hmmm, maybe it's time to start again. Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful show and tell. Thanks so much for sharing, even if it brought up those shy memories! I haven't tried finger crocheting yet but I'm curious!
ReplyDeleteI felt the same about show and tell. Your knitting is beautiful! I haven't heard of finger knitting before. It sounds difficult. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour work is lovely and definitely a labor of love. I too have never heard of finger crocheting. It is so nice to learn something new each day. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh these are beautiful!!! I love mix of color on the second one that makes it seem like the sky! What fun. Thank you so much for the show and tell! <3
