Day Nine: Favorite Movies

Today for the blog-a-thon, the prompt is favorite movies.

I like a lot of movies.  What I am about to list is only a small portion of the movies I enjoy.  Strangely, most of them are animated/Disney.  Not that that's a bad thing.

First off we have Alice in Wonderland, the Tim Burton version.  I like the original Disney version as well, but the story of the live action version is better, in my opinion.

I also really like Tangled, Disney's take on the Rapunzel fairy tale.  it certainly helps that Mandy Moore both voices and sings as Rapunzel.  Mother Gothel makes an excellent villain.  Not only is she relatable in the smothering mother sense, but Donna Murphy has an awesome voice.  Also, I am so Pascal it isn't even funny.
Another Disney animated film I love is The Sword in the Stone.  My sister and I love this film.  My Archimedes to her Merlin, I can always laugh at this movie.

Howl's Moving Castle is technically Disney here in the States, yes?  I adore Studio Ghibli films and we own quite a few, but this is my favorite.  I hear that it's not really like the book, which is sad.

Finally, we have The Avengers.  I like this movie for the humor, the action... it's just an awesome movie.  Tom Hiddleston is awesome as Loki, though I'm not one of those Loki fan girls who would have wanted him to win.  Nope, while I feel bad for the character of Loki, he did wrong and for that there are consequences.  I wish Hawkeye would have had more screen time though.  Jeremy Renner is also awesome, and I hope to see more of his character in the next one.

As I said, these are not my only favorites, but I don't want to make this post humongous.  On that note, who here is stoked for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug?!

  1. Oh I haven't seen Howl's Moving Castle yet...I kind of got scared of after Spirited Away because it really freaked me out. Loved Studio Ghibli's The Secret World of Arrietty though, that was beautiful.

And I'm STOKED for The Hobbit! I can't wait!!!

    1. It's not weird in the creepy sense that Spirited Away was, I think so anyway. Have you seen Totoro or Kiki's Delivery Service? Those are a bit lighter in tone too.

  2. I love the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland. We just watched it a few weeks ago (own the DVD). Such a wonderful movie. Tangled - also a great movie. Despite my wife and I both being in our 50s, we're big on the Disney movies too. Nemo, Shark's Tale, Ice Age movies, Kung Fu Panda - love them all. And, absolutely cannot wait for The Hobbit - Part 2. Wow! I'll probably catch it at iMax.

  5. Seeing your list made me think of more I could have added to mine: I really love comic book movies and I loved the Avenger film as well as the movies leading up to it.
